| CAS Scientists Attend Kidney Disease Prevention Conference in Sri Lanka |

A kidney disease prevention conference organized by the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) together with the Water Supply and Drainage Board of Sri Lanka was held in Colombo on March 15. During the event a comprehensive report regarding the prevention of kidney disease was presented to President Maithripala Sirisena after consultations with leading environmental, social and public health researchers.
According to an agreement signed by President Sirisena during his recent State visit to China it was agreed to provide technical assistance to Sri Lanka to control the spread of kidney disease and to find its root cause in order to prevent it. Sri Lanka's president expressed his appreciation to the Government of China and its people for organizing this event, presenting a presidential gift to Prof. Qiu Huasheng of UCAS. President Sirisena also presented another five gifts to CAS professors to recognize their immense contribution for the prevention of kidney disease. |
