UCAS Graduate Student Achievements in S & T Innovation & Patent

Two research projects by UCAS graduate students, from among fifteen submitted, won gold awards in the Third Conference for Promoting University Student Innovation and Patent Results in Beijing which was held from December 6 to 7, 2014. The opening ceremony of the conference was attended by UCAS Vice President Dong Junshe.

Hu Ying, a doctoral candidate from the UCAS Institute of Physics, and her team, won the gold award for innovation in biological and new medicine technologies for their research “the system and methodology used to control the motion of biological single-molecules in nano-pores.”

Wang Yuhua, a masters candidate from the UCAS Institute of Process Engineering, and her team, won the gold award for innovation in resources and environmental fields for their research “application of nicotine degradation bacteria TW in tobacco wastewater treatment”. The research described a process for removing more than 98 percent of nicotine from tobacco wastewater.

Liu Ying, a graduate student from the UCAS Institute of Remote Sensing Applications, and her team, won the excellent paper award for their dissertation “Study on Abnormal Ionospheric Electron Density of the Earthquake in the Island of Sumatra in April 4 of 2012.” It investigated earthquake early warning.
