Vice-Chancellor of Aston University and Delegation Visit GUCAS

A delegation led by Professor Julia King, Vice Chancellor of Aston University, visited GUCAS on 19 October, 2011. Professor Deng Yong, Secretary General of CAS and Executive Vice President of GUCAS, met with them. Professor Su Gang, Vice President of GUCAS, and Professor Hu Zhongbo, Executive Dean of the College of Materials Science and Opto-Electronic Technology also attended the meeting.
 
Professor Deng made a brief introduction of GUCAS, expressing his hope that more graduate student exchange programs and cooperation might be carried out in the future. Professor King expressed her interest in learning more about GUCAS through this visit in order to identify possible ways of strengthening future cooperation.
 
Before the meeting, Professor Zhu Xiangbin, Assistant President of GUCAS, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, representing GUCAS, with Aston University. Professor Su Gang, Vice President of GUCAS, awarded Professor King with the title of Guest Professor of GUCAS.
 
Professor Julia King is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a member of Universities UK. In December 2006 she became Vice-Chancellor of Aston University. In November, 2010 she was appointed by the Prime Minister as the UK’s Low Carbon Business Ambassador.
