President of the National Academy of Sciences of USA Awarded GUCAS Honorary Professorship

Dr. Ralph J. Cicerone, President of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, received an professorship when he visited GUCAS on 1 November, 2011.
 
Responding to receiving the professorship, Dr. Cicerone said it was a great honor to receive such a prestigious academic title. He spoke highly of the pioneering contribution of GUCAS in Chinese research and graduate education after receiving the official plaque from Prof. Deng Yong, Chairman of the University Council of GUCAS.
 
After the ceremony, Dr. Cicerone made a speech, titled “Evidence of Human-caused Climate Change”, at the China Sciences and Humanities Forum.
 
Dr. Ralph J. Cicerone is the President of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and Chair of the U.S. National Research Council. His research in atmospheric chemistry, climate change and energy has involved him in shaping science and environmental policy at the highest levels nationally and internationally.
