UCAS Foreign Students Scholarship Assessment Meeting 2014 was held on July 15. After careful review, evaluation and discussion by 16 experts from UCAS and CAS institutes, 113 awardees were selected.

The meeting was hosted by President Wu Yueliang. He pointed out that the proportion of foreign students strongly indicates the internationalization of a university. The innovation mechanism, cutting-edge scientific research, and substantive international cooperation of UCAS have facilitated foreign students education. Since 2004 when UCAS first enrolled foreign students, standard management, cultivation and degree conferring systems have gradually been put in place.

The UCAS Scholarship (short for UCAS Foreign Students Scholarship) was founded in 2004. It supports the largest number of foreign students among all scholarships provided by UCAS. This year, 204 students from over 30 countries including the US, Germany, India and Pakistan applied for the scholarship; 52 disciplines of 48 CAS institutes and departments of UCAS are involved.

This year, UCAS has altogether 536 registered foreign students, among which, 393 are PhD students and 143 Master students. Among all Chinese higher education institutions, UCAS rank 11 in the number of international students, and tops the list for foreign PhD student number.
