UCAS held a chorus competition in memory of the December 9 Movement at the Yuquanlu auditorium in the evening of December 5. Contestants from seven schools and colleges sang 14 beautiful songs.

The competition started with a video commemorating the historic movement. Prof. Ma Shizhuang, Vice-Chairman of University Council, called upon all students to remember history and never forget national humiliation, reminding them that the revolutionary forefathers shed their blood to fight for national liberation. Young adults should assume responsibility for developing the nation, he added.

The speech was followed by such inspiring performances as traditional dancing from international students of the International College, “Jasmine” from the Sino-Danish Center, “Glory and Dream” and “My Chinese Dream” from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Students from the College of Materials Science and Opto-Electronic Technology, College of Life Sciences and College of Resources and Environment offered splendid performances.
Undergraduate students also made great performances and won the competition’s first prize.
