University of Chicago Provost Visits UCAS

Prof. Eric Isaacs, Provost of the University of Chicago (UChicago), visited the UCAS Yuquanlu campus on 16 October. Prof. Yang Guoqiang, UCAS Vice-President, met with him.

Both sides listened to the brief introduction to UCAS including UCAS history, the relationship between CAS and UCAS, UCAS unique education mode as well as UCAS international cooperation after they exchanged greetings with each other. Prof. Eric Isaacs asked about some issues he was interested in.

The meeting focused on the UCAS Undergraduate Exchange Program. Prof. Yang expressed his hope for sending outstanding UCAS undergraduates to study at UChicago. Prof. Isaacs said UChicago welcomes UCAS undergraduates and was willing to provide help as much as possible. Both sides discussed cooperative details of this program and agreed to sign a MOU and a related agreement as soon as possible to establish a formal partnership.

In addition, they talked about a faculty exchange program and cooperation in research.

Prof. Hu Zhongbo, Vice-Dean of the UCAS College of Materials Sciences and Opto-Electronic Technology, and Prof. Zhang Hongxun from UCAS College of Resources and Environment attended the meeting.
