UCAS Signs a MOU with Columbia University

Prof. Mary Boyce, Dean of the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science of Columbia University visited UCAS on 11 November. UCAS Vice-President Yang Guoqiang met with her at Yuquanlu campus. Both of them signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of their respective universities.

Prof. Yang explained UCAS history, the advantages of being supported by CAS, unique student education mode as well as international exchanges and cooperation prior to the signing ceremony. Prof. Boyce expressed her appreciation for the warm UCAS reception. She said that a student exchange would be the first step in comprehensive cooperation between UCAS and Columbia University.

According to the MOU, both universities will explore opportunities for programs and activities that advance scholarship through a cooperative relationship, such as programs for visiting undergraduate students and graduate students, joint educational, cultural and research activities. This MOU will take in effect for five years.

Columbia University is a private Ivy League research university in New York City. In 2015, it was ranked 8th in the world by the Academic Ranking of World Universities. Columbia alumni and faculty have included three U.S. Presidents and 101 Nobel Prize winners. The Pulitzer Prize, an American award that is recognized as the highest honor in newspaper journalism, arts, and letters, is administered by Columbia University.
