The Royal Society President Gave an Academic Lecture at UCAS

Dr. Venki Ramakrishnan, President of the royal society visited UCAS Zhongguancun campus and gave a lecture on life sciences for UCAS teachers and students on November 3.The title of lecture is “Seeing is Believing: One hundred years of visualizing molecules”. Zhou Qi, Vice-President of UCAS, met with Dr. Venki Ramakrishnan and presided over the lecture. 

Venki Ramakrishnan is Deputy Director of the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) in Cambridge and President of the Royal Society. He is best known for his work on ribosomes, the large molecules in all cells that read genetic information to make proteins. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society, a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. He received the Louis-Jeantet Prize for medicine in 2007 and shared the Nobel Prize for chemistry in 2009.
