Wu Yueliang Meets with Rector of the Ghent University

Prof. VAN DE WALLE Rik, Rector of Ghent University, paid a visit to UCAS Zhongguancun campus on November 7th. Prof. Wu Yueliang, VicePresident of UCAS, met with the 13 delegates from the Ghent University.

Wu welcomed the delegation and briefed them on UCAS's two-phase mode of cultivation, the high-level research advantages at the University, and the advanced human resources, which are based on more than 100 CAS institutes. He also provided an overview of collaborative international program between UCAS and Ghent University since the two universities signed the agreement in 2017.

 

Prof.Rik provided an overview of the Ghent University from the aspects of history, faculty/stuff, current students, research and international cooperation programs. He emphasized on the universitys China Platform program and spoke about the close cooperation between the Ghent Universityand different CAS institutes. He expressed his confidence on the establishment of exchange programs in education and research between the Ghent University and UCAS, especially the cooperation in the aspects of double degree program on PhD level.

Prof. Sun Wenke, Vice Dean of theCollege of Earth and Planetary Sciences, UCAS, Prof. Sun Xiaochun, Vice Dean of the School of Humanities, UCAS, Prof. Hu Yaowu from Department of Archaeology and Anthropology School of Humanities, UCAS, Dr. Ning Bolun, Deputy Director of the Bureau of International Co-operation, CAS, and Prof. Alishir KURBAN from Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography atteded the meeting.

Backed by the China-Belgium Geographic InformationIn Joint Laboratory between Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography and the Ghent University, UCAS and the Ghent University's joint PhD program was selected in the China Scholarhship Council's international collabrative innovative talent program in 2016.

In Junuary 2017, UCAS and the Ghent University signed the cooperation agreement in Belgium.
