China-Belgium Joint Laboratory of Geographic Information in Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography Participating in the Photo Exhibition for Achievements of China-Belgium S&T Cooperation

In honor of the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up, Chinese Embassy in Belgium hosted the Photo Exhibition and Reception for Achievements of China-Belgium S&T Cooperation in Brussels on the evening of November 26th. China-Belgium Joint Laboratory of Geographic Information, established by Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of CAS and Ghent University of Belgium, participated in the event, which displayed achievements in various fields including climate change, sustainable development,geographical archaeology, environment, ecology, geographic information application.

Through pictures, charts etc.,the event presented fruitful achievements ofour two countries based on our strong cooperation in the past four decades.Some doctors such as Yuan Xiuliang, Jiang Liangliang and Peng Jiabin, co-trained by Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography and Ghent University, participated in the exhibition and reception. The laboratory witheight display boards attracted participantsshowing a strong interest in relatedresearch.

China-Belgium Joint Laboratory of Geographic Information was established in 2016, aiming at academic communication, S&T innovation cooperation and joint talent training in terms of geographic information science and technology.This year a framework agreementto jointly train doctors was signed between Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography and Ghent University, making this training plan one of the normalized cooperation contents. At present, the two sides are working together to foster 17 bilateral doctors, four of which have graduated and have jointly published 48 papers, including 34 on SCI.
