UC Berkeley Visit to UCAS

Vice President Xi Nanhua, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) and Prof. Hu Zhongbo, Deputy Director of College of Materials Sciences and Opto-electronic Technology, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) welcomed Dr. Anthony St. George, Assistant Dean of Engineering College, University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) at UCAS Yanqihu Campus, December 15th 2016. The meeting was scheduled to further discuss the visiting student program between UCAS and UC Berkeley.

Vice President Xi and Professor Hu introduced to Dr. St. George in details the unique, scientific and internationally competitive programs and course offerings for UCAS undergraduate students, as well as UCAS’ strict academic assessment and quality assurance system. Dr. St. George briefed on the overall status of UC Berkeley’s visiting student programs with different universities, and expressed good wishes to the upcoming fall semester when the first group of UCAS students will start their visiting program in UC Berkeley.

The two parties exchanged notes on arrangements including available programs at the Berkeley end, UCAS student selection, course selection, registration and orientation etc.. Both parties are looking forward to the cooperation between the two institutions, and will soon sign a formal agreement.

Dr. St. George also took the time to present and answering questions on studying at UC Berkeley to some 200 UCAS students.

Established in 1868 and located in the Bay area, San Francisco, University of California, Berkeley is a prestigious public university worldwide, especially known for its science, engineering and computer science programs. Till this day, Berkeley boasts 92 Nobel Prize laureates who studied, worked, or did research there.
