School of Emergency Management Science and Engineering of UCAS is launched

On January 12, 2021, the School of Emergency Management Science and Engineering of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) held a launching ceremony in the auditorium of the Yuquan Road Campus. This new school aims at producing urgently needed strategic management talents and leading sci-tech talents who work in the field of emergency and safety.

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the world, and the importance of emergency and safety in the major strategic needs of the country has become increasingly prominent. The newly established school of UCAS will focus on the needs of digital transformation and intelligent upgrading of emergency management, vigorously promote the integration and innovation combining the new generation of information technology (represented by big data, artificial intelligence and Internet of things) and emergency management practice, and build a practical scientific research base for disaster prevention, mitigation and relief. At the same time, the School will give full play to the interdisciplinary strength and integrated innovation-oriented education of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and UCAS, explore the emergency management theoretical system with Chinese characteristics in the new era, take the lead in the construction of First-level Discipline of Emergency Management, establish an open and shared cooperation mechanism, create a high-end communication and cooperation platform, and actively help modernize the emergency management governance system and governance ability.
