The 2014 UCAS National Doctoral Academic Forum was held from October 23 to 24 at the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology in Beijing.
With the theme “New Nano-Times: Opportunities and Challenges”, the forum provided a platform for young researchers to share their ideas and experiences in nanoscience and nanotechnology.200 official registered representatives and 100 other participants attended the forum.
There were 5 sub-forums, including plenary lectures, branch lectures, an international session and a poster session. There were also other innovative forums for broader communication, such as a network discussion and live exhibitions.
The academic exchange session for foreign students surrounded more than 9 oral and 10 poster presentations from famous universities of China.
UCAS Vice-President Wu Yueliang warmly welcomed the speakers and other participants, encouraging new researchers to face the challenges in their respective fields.
Prof. Magnus Willander at the Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems spoke about combining experimental and theoretical research in the area of materials and devices.
Prof. Chen Wang, former Director of NCNST, presented Honorary Certificates for Best Oral Presentation to the invited speakers.
The attendees discussed the progress and key scientific problems in nanoscience and nanotechnology. This forum is a useful platform for nanoscience researchers to exchange ideas, present new findings and enhance opportunities in nanosciences.
The forum was sponsored by UCAS with the supports of the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology. The forum was mainly organized for Chinese and international doctoral candidates to consider the opportunities and challenges that nanotechnology will face, concerning such related fields as chemistry, physics, biology, medicine, materials and electronics.
