The inaugural meeting of the UCAS College of Life Science, which was reorganized to link science and education, was held on March 16. UCAS Vice-Presidents Prof. Gao Hunjun and Prof. Guo Zhengtang, as well as Prof. Kang Le, Director of the CAS Institute of Zoology, took part in the meeting. Prof. Xu Tao, Director of the CAS Institute of Biophysics, and Vice-Dean of the UCAS College of Life Science chaired the meeting.
The reorganized UCAS College of Life Science is hosted by the CAS Institute of Biophysics and coordinates undergraduate and graduate education in collaboration with the CAS Institute of Zoology, the CAS Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, the CAS Institute of Botany, the CAS Institute of Microbiology, the CAS Beijing Institute of Genomics, and the CAS Institute of Phycology.
There are 8 teaching laboratories comprised of General Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biophysics, Neural Biology and Psychology, Genetics and Developmental Biology, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and Microbiology and Immunology.
136 leading scholars will be selected from the related CAS institutes in Beijing to serve as instructors for UCAS students. The reorganized College of Life Science will offer a scientific platform with international standard quality.
