The 15th Beijing training program for outstanding teenagers in science and technology (Huairou District) was launched at UCAS Yanqihu campus on May 27.
The event was attended by Prof. Wu Yueliang, UCAS Vice-President and Zhou Lijun, Vice-President of the Beijing Association for Science and Technology.
In his remarks at the event, Prof. Wu highlighted the importance of talented persons and especially the early training of teenagers to change China’s development mode and to promote scientific and technological innovation and development in China. He gave a brief introduction to UCAS, including its student training mode as well as its undergraduate admission and related policy.
Wu said it was good news that two experimental bases of UCAS, namely the Cosmic Ray Laboratory and the Huairou Eco-station, had been chosen to be laboratories for the teenager training program, providing the teenagers access to cutting-edge technologies near their home in Huairou. CAS resources should be used to train young talents, he said.
Several teenage representatives selected by the program said they felt excited to be admitted into the program and to have this opportunity to experience UCAS.
At the end of the event, a staff member of the Huairou Eco-station delivered a lecture to over 100 teenage students on ecological environmental pollution.
