UCAS held its 2026 New Year Concert

The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) held its 2026 New Year Concert at the auditorium of its Yanqi Lake Campus on the evening of January 10. The performance was jointly presented by the Beijing Symphony Orchestra and the UCAS Student National Orchestra.

The concert opened with the orchestral piece "Ode to the Red Flag". The Beijing Symphony Orchestra performed a selection of famous classics, including "The Blue Danube Waltz" and "Voices of Spring". Tenor Xue Yuqiang and soprano Chen Yingfang sang solo pieces such as "O Sole Mio" and "O Mio Babbino Caro", with their duet of "The Drinking Song" raising the event to a climax.

Students from the UCAS Orchestra performed works including "The Second Waltz" and the "Carmen Suite", displaying solid artistic skills and showcasing the integration of scientific spirit and artistic beauty.

The concert concluded with the passionate melody of "Good News from Beijing Reaches Border Village," followed by prolonged applause from the audience.

This New Year Concert marks the second performance by the Beijing Symphony Orchestra at UCAS. The concert series aims to build a campus cultural brand, serving as a concrete measure to implement the university's philosophy of all-round education. It provides a platform for researchers and students to appreciate the charm of the arts.
