On the morning of April 13, a UNESCO delegation led by Mr. Natarajan ISHWARAN, Director of the Division of Ecological and Earth Sciences, visited GUCAS. Vice President Deng Yong met with the delegation at the Yuquanlu Campus.
Prof. Deng welcomed the visit of the UNESCO delegation, and recalled the agreement made by both UNESCO and GUCAS during his last visit to the UNESCO headquarters. Both parties agreed to have training programs in social sciences, green economy and sustainable development.
Mr. Natarajan ISHWARAN said GUCAS enjoyed scientific and educational resources supporting nearly 37,000 graduate students from 117 CAS institutes. He added that throughout China there are 28 separate biosphere reserves.
Having training programs about biosphere reserves is not only conducive to China's sustainable development, but also promotes the sustainable development of the surrounding region in East Asia.
Assistant President Zhu Xiangbin also attended the meeting.
