President Bai Chunli Attended and Hosted the First Meeting of Joint Managerial Committee (JMC) of the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research (SDC)

On the afternoon of 8 September, 2011, the First Meeting of the Joint Managerial Committee (JMC) of the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research (SDC) was held in Beijing. Prof. Bai Chunli, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and President of the Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (GUCAS) hosted the meeting and gave a welcome address.

Prof. Bai reviewed the history of the SDC and summarized the significance of the SDC project before expressing great hope for SDC.

In his response, Mr. Uffe Toudal Pedersen, Permanent Secretary of the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, said the Danish government highly values the SDC, hoping it would enhance Chinese and Danish mutual understanding through the exchange of knowledge, technology and talent. He thanked the two directors of SDC for their contributions to the SDC. 

The Annual Report 2010 of the SDC, the Director's Plan, the Forecast for SDC 2011-2013, the SDC Budget as well as the Master’s Programs at the SDC were all approved after having been presented. In addition, the meeting discussed various SDC building issues, the establishment of the SDC International Scientific Advisory Board and the SDC Industry Advisory Board, and the agenda for the next meeting in Copenhagen.

The meeting was followed by an unveiling ceremony for the SDC and the SDC College. Prof. Bai and Mr. Pedersen jointly unveiled the plaques on behalf of their respective countries. The ceremony was attended by Prof. CHENG Siwei, Dean of the GUCAS School of Management, Dr. CHEN Lin, member of the CAS, Prof. WANG Yanfen, Vice President of GUCAS, Prof. ZHU Xiangbin, Chinese Director of SDC and Assistant President of GUCAS, Mr. Mads Lebech, CEO of the Danish Industry Foundation, Prof. Jens Oddershede, Chairman of Danish Rectors’ Conference, Universities Denmark and Prof. Hans Gregersen, Danish Director of SDC.

The JMC is the supreme decision making body of SDC. It is responsible for making the long-term plan, discussing the budget and supervising programs.
