An unveiling ceremony for the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research (SDC) and the SDC College was held in Beijing on the afternoon of 8 September 2011. Prof. Bai, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and President of the Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (GUCAS), and Mr. Uffe Toudal Pedersen, Permanent Secretary of the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation unveiled the plaques on behalf of their respective countries.
Established by GUCAS, the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MSTI) and the Danish Universities, the SDC aims at providing a platform to enhance Chinese and Danish mutual understanding through the exchange of knowledge, technology and talent. Since the formal SDC agreements were signed in the Great Hall of the People, various SDC programs have been carried out. The scholars and officals of both countries have frequently communicated. The doctoral student exchange program has begun. The preliminary draft design of the SDC building is being finalized. The SDC symposium and workshops have already been held twice. The First Meeting of the Joint Managerial Committee (JMC) of SDC, which was a landmark event, was recently held.
The SDC College is a newly-built secondary college located at GUCAS. In 2012, the SDC College will develop masters double-degree programs in the following fields: water and environment, neuroscience and neural images, public management and social development, and innovation management. From 2011 to 2013, it plans to enrol 75 doctoral students from China and Denmark.
