From 11 to 14 October, 2011, a delegation from the Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (GUCAS), composed of 10 students from 9 different institutes, joined the 7th International Student Forum (ISF) in Tokyo, Japan. The ISF is an international research activity which is successively hosted by research institutes from China, Japan, Australia and the United States. ISF has been held for 7 years, enhancing graduate student communication among the host nations. The 7th ISF was hosted by the Medical Research Institute of Tokyo University, a leading international life science research center.
From 2005 to 2010, more than 400 graduate students participated in this international forum. In 2011, the 7th ISF invited 38 outstanding students to present their research. These work covered a broad range of the life sciences. Such diversity provided a global view of life science research to the participating students, thereby improving their scientific thinking and creativity. The ten GUCAS graduate students did very well in the international symposium, making a positive reception on both the faculty and students from other core institutes. In addition to their research communication, the students also established friendships, exchanging gifts during the closing session. Next year's 8th ISF will be held in Nebraska in the United States.
