On 9 December, 2011, Professor Deng Yong, Vice Secretary-General of CAS and Chairman of the University Council of GUCAS, visited Denmark at the invitation of the Danish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education. Mr. Uffe Toudal Pedersen, Permanent Secretary of the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, met with Professor Deng Yong, discussing together issues of common concern regarding the Sino-Danish Center.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the planning and construction of the Sino-Danish building. In order to guarantee a positive teaching and learning environment, and to enable the masters and doctoral candidates recruited by the Center to use the building as soon as possible, they agreed to closely cooperate, enhance communication, solve problems and accelerate the building process. They mutually emphasized the prime importance of quality, constructing a building in Danish style up to high standards, providing state-of-the-art equipment for the Center's academic functions.

The Danish side expressed their gratitude for the consistent support which the Chinese side has given to the project, emphasizing that active cooperation between the two sides would greatly promote exchange between Danish, other European universities and GUCAS in a broad range of academic fields. The Chinese side expressed their wish that the two sides might use the project as a means of broadening cooperation on the basis of reciprocity.

Professor Zhu Xiangbin, Assistant President of GUCAS and Director of the Sino-Danish Center, Mr. Jens Peter Jacobsen, Director General of the Agency for Universities and Internationalization of the Danish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education, and Mrs. Connie Barfod, Head of the Division of the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Building, also attended the meeting.
