The meeting was hosted by Mr. Uffe Toudal Pedersen, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education. He said that the JMC meeting was held just one week after Chinese President Hu Jintao’s state visit to Denmark. The Danish government highly valued the SDC, and it had been mentioned several times during President Hu’s visit. He thanked the two directors of SDC for their contributions to the SDC over the past year.
In his response, Prof. Bai emphasized the importance of the SDC as a significant aspect of the strategic partnership between Denmark and China.He stated that both sides had achieved a lot from the starting line, and would achieve more in the future. Prof. Bai also gladly mentioned the rapid development of GUCAS Yanqihu Campus, where the Building of SDC will be located.
The Annual Report 2011 of the SDC, the Director's Plan, the Forecast for SDC 2013-2014, the SDC Budget, the PhD and Master’s Programs at the SDC as well as the candidates for SDC International Scientific Advisory Board and the SDC Industry Advisory Board were all approved after having been presented. In addition, the meeting discussed various SDC joint research and training issues, and the agenda for the next meeting in Beijing next year.
The JMC, or Joint Managerial Committee, is the supreme decision-making body of the Sino-Danish Center (SDC). The board consists of ten high level representatives equally divided between China and Denmark.
The Second JMC meeting was attended by Prof. CHENG Siwei, Dean of the GUCAS School of Management and Former Vice President of National People’s Congress’ Standing Committee , Dr. CHEN Lin, member of CAS, Prof. WANG Yanfen, Vice President of GUCAS, Prof. Lu Yonglong, Director General, Bureau of International Cooperations of CAS, Prof. ZHU Xiangbin, Chinese Director of SDC and Assistant President of GUCAS, Mr. Mads Lebech, CEO of the Danish Industry Foundation, Prof. Jens Oddershede, Chairman of Danish Rectors’ Conference, Prof. Ralf Hemmingsen, Rector of University of Copenhagen, Prof. Martin Bendse, Vice President of Technical University of Denmark and Prof. Hans Gregersen, Danish Director of SDC.
