A delegation led by Prof. Ian O’Connor, Vice Chancellor of Griffith University (GU), visited UCAS on 20 March, 2013. Prof. Wu Yueliang, Executive Vice President of UCAS, met with them. UCAS Vice President Prof. Wang Yanfen also attended the meeting.

Prof. Wu expressed his welcome for the third visit of Vice Chancellor O’Connor. He also described the results of UCAS' international collaboration. Vice Chancellor O’Connor praised the collaboration between UCAS and GU for the past five years and expressed gratitude for the International Student Forum and the UCAS-GU Joint Doctoral Program. He proposed that a wide range of exchanges and communication between supervisors from the two universities might be established to deepen collaboration between UCAS and GU.

In November, 2008, UCAS and GU signed a memorandum of understanding for future collaboration regarding a Joint Doctoral Program. In November, 2011, UCAS and GU renewed the memorandum of understanding, increasing the number of students in the program and enlarging the areas of collaboration. Since October, 2012, nine doctoral candidates have entered the Joint Doctoral Program of UCAS and GU.

Currently GU is the largest university in Australia with over 43,000 students, 9,000 of which are international students.
