The Sixth UCAS Academic Forum for Post-doctors was held on June 14 at the Yuquanlu campus. It was attended by 41 post-doctors from 12 schools and colleges (laboratories, research centers) who introduced recent achievements in their research and 15 experts were invited for comments.
Professor Hou Quanlin, Vice President of the UCAS attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered a speech. He said the UCAS has always attached great importance to post-doctoral training and the post-doctors of the university have made excellent achievements in teaching and research work in recent years.
The name change of the university and the launch of the Yanqihu campus drive up the demand for personnel and offer a rare opportunity for post-doctors, Hou said. As the university will not lower its standards for talent, he hoped post-doctors would take advantage of academic forums, salons and other opportunities for academic exchanges and self-improvement, he added.
The 41 post-doctors gave reports on mathematics, physics, chemistry, geophysics, geography, geology, environmental science, architecture, biology, computer science and technology, management science and engineering, philosophy, science and technology history, covering most disciplines of the university. The experts put forward some suggestions for the post-doctors and decided by vote four first prizes and twelve second prizes.
In the afternoon, members of the CAS Youth Innovation Promotion Association conducted four-hour exchanges with the participating post-doctors. Associate Professor Lu Xiaorui and Professor Dong Jichang first introduced membership and support policies of the association and Dong also gave suggestions for post-doctors on teaching and research. Associate Professor Ma Xiaofeng, Miao Bing, Yang Yimin and Lu Xiaorui shared their latest research results and thoughts. A Q&A session was held thereafter.
The forum was an annual academic event hosted by the UCAS Personnel Office and co-organized by UCAS Post-doctors Club and the CAS Youth Innovation Promotion Association.
