A delegation from the University of Basel, led by Vice-Rector Prof. Edwin C. Constable, visited UCAS on 6 December. UCAS Executive Vice President Wu Yueliang met with the guests.
Prof. Wu gave a brief introduction to the history, education characteristics and international exchanges of UCAS. Prof. Constable expressed his gratitude to Prof. Wu for his warm reception, introducing the education and scientific research of the University of Basel. Both sides agreed to establish and expand academic exchanges in the future.
Prof. Chen Xiaofeng, Vice Director of the CAS Bureau of Frontier Sciences & Education, also took part in the discussions.
The University of Basel is considered to be one of Switzerland's leading universities. The University of Basel offers degree programs across the arts and sciences, ranging from Archaeology to Zoology, being especially strong in biology, chemistry and the humanities. Prof. Tadeus Reichstein, Director of the Pharmaceutical Institute of the University of Basel shared the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine with two other researchers in 1950.
