President of HKUST Visits UCAS

Tony F. Chan, President of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), and Wei Shyy, Executive Vice-President and Provost of HKUST visited UCAS in the afternoon of May 6. Wu Yuelian, Vice President of UCAS greeted the visitors at Zhongguancun Campus.

 

 

Prof. Wu Yueliang briefed to the visitors the UCAS history of postgraduate education and the mechanism of “fusion of science and education”, and introduced educational exchange activities between UCAS and Hong Kong universities in recent years. Prof. Tony F. Chan introduced HKUST and hoped the two universities could strengthen and expand cooperation on the basis of leveraging each other’s advantages. The visitors were interested in the “two-phase” cultivation mode of UCAS. The two sides exchanged ideas on the features of postgraduate education and the current undergraduate student enrollment of UCAS, and reached initial consensus on conducting joint programs in education and research.

 

 

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, founded in 1991, is an international research university. HKUST is the only university in Hong Kong with higher institute, committee of which comprises of several Nobel laureates. HKUST ranked the top in the QS Asian University Rankings 2011-2013.
