IPS Delegation Visits UCAS

Ms. Laure Pallez, Chief Business Officer of the Institute Pasteur of Shanghai (IPS), CAS, Prof. Zhong Jin, Assistant Director of IPS and Mr. Alexis DE Canck, China – Shanghai Representative of the University of Lyon, visited UCAS Yuquanlu campus on the morning of May 16. Prof. Su Gang, Vice President of UCAS, accompanied by Prof. Hu Zhengyi, Executive Dean of the Sino-Danish College, met with the visitors.

 

Prof. Su welcomed the visitors and briefly introduced the history, educational characteristics and international activities of UCAS, especially the SDC program. Prof. Hu gave a presentation on the Sino-Danish College.

 

The French visitors showed interest in the SDC program. Ms. Laure Pallez said that French universities would take the opportunity of the 50th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations to further strengthen scientific and educational cooperation with China, and UCAS would be an ideal partner.

 

Both sides reached some initial agreement on joint PhD programs, enhancement of bilateral cooperation and building of a platform for academic exchange.

 

The Institut Pasteur Shanghai (IPS) is the first international institute under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Founded in 2004 by CAS, the Institut Pasteur and the Shanghai Municipal Government, IPS is an independent, non-profit life sciences institute that works closely with Chinese authorities to address public health problems. Prof. Ralf Altmeyer, Director General of IPS, is a German virologist.

 

The University of Lyon (Université de Lyon), located in Lyon and Saint-Étienne, France, is a center for higher education and research comprising 20 institutions of higher education. The three main universities in this center are Claude Bernard University Lyon 1, focusing upon health and science studies, Lumière University Lyon 2 and Jean Moulin University Lyon 3.
