The second Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UCAS and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJP), Sri Lanka was signed on September 16 to broaden innovative research through collaborations between China and Sri Lanka. Prof Wu Yueliang, Vice President of UCAS, and Dr. N. L. A. Karunaratne, Vice Chancellor of USJP, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.
According to the MoU, a group of students from USJP will be selected to join a 2-year bilateral double M.Sc. degree program. They will study for a period of 18-21 months in Sri Lanka and then go to UCAS to study for a period of 3-6 months. They will be awarded double degrees from the two universities if they complete all of the requirements of the double degree program.
The first MoU between UCAS and USJP was signed on 23 January, 2014 providing the CAS-TWAS Scholarship Fellowship Program for students at USJP to pursue PhD degrees at UCAS.
The signing of the MoU coincided with the official visit of President Xi Jinping to Sri Lanka.
