Dr. Jia Tao from Virginia Tech University, Dr. Jin Cheng from Kansas State University, and Dr. Lin Bin from University of Notre Dame visited the International College of UCAS on November 27. UCAS Vice-President Prof. WU Yueliang Wu briefly met them. He said UCAS welcomed Chinese overseas professionals.
Prof. Qiao Congfeng, Dean of the UCAS Scientific Research Department and all members of the International College Office had a discussion with the guests after Dr. Jia, Dr. Jin and Dr. Lin gave academic reports for more than twenty international students with relevant professional backgrounds in physics and material science. Prof. Qiao introduced the basic management policies of CAS and UCAS. International College staff briefly introduced their duties including human resource management, educational administration and international student recruitment. The establishment of the ICTP-UCAS-Asian Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics and Interdisciplinary Sciences was discussed. After the discussion, the three overseas scholars visited the Zhongguancun campus of UCAS accompanied by the International College staff.
“CAS Open House for Chinese Overseas Professionals” is an activity which invites Chinese overseas professionals from the the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, the United States, Japan and other countries to visit CAS institutes for communication and establishing long-term cooperation.
