HKU Delegation Visits UCAS

A delegation led by Professor Tan Guangheng, Vice-President and Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), visited the UCAS Yuquanlu Campus on 11 December, 2014. UCAS Vice-President Prof. Wu Yueliang, accompanied by Prof. Fan Jianping, Director of the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of CAS, and Dr. Feng Wei, Assistant Director of SIAT, met with the visitors.

Prof. Wu welcomed the HKU delegation by introducing the historical development and present status of UCAS, emphasizing such UCAS international cooperation programs as the Sino-Danish Center. He also described the status of undergraduate recruitment and education. Prof. Fan gave the overview of SIAT and ongoing international cooperation programs, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) - SIAT Brain Cognition and Brain Disorders Research Institute. He noted that Shenzhen is next door to Hong Kong and SIAT has been developing close cooperation with most HK universities in recent years. “In this regard, we are very pleased to work together with the University of Hong Kong to develop a strategic partnership and all-around cooperation”, he said.

Prof. Tan expressed his appreciation for the hospitality shown by UCAS and said he was deeply impressed by the broad range of research fields and outstanding research achievements of UCAS. “We anticipate that this visit will lead in time to long-term cooperation to cultivate top students with international vision and contribute more to the nation and society”.

Members of the HKU delegation included Dr. Zhang Yingxiang, Associate Vice- President. The attendees from the UCAS side included Prof. Hu Zhengyi, Executive Dean of the Sino-Danish College and Prof. Yuan Zengqiang, Director of the Admission and Degree Affairs office.
