A delegation from the University of Western Australia (UWA), led by Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Iain Watt, visited UCAS on January 13. UCAS Vice-President Prof. Wu Yueliang met with Prof. Watt.
Prof. Wu welcomed the UWA delegation by introducing the present status of UCAS science and education as well as explaining its international cooperation programs, focusing on the Sino-Danish Center Program and the CAS International Joint PhD Training Programs. Prof. Hu Zhengyi, Executive Dean of the UCAS Sino-Danish College, introduced in detail the selection of students and faculty, curriculum design and thesis defense.
Prof. Watt expressed his appreciation of the strengths of UCAS science and technology as well as the achievements made by UCAS, showing great interest in the new cooperation mode of the Sino-Danish Program. He hoped that the two universities might deepen mutual exchanges and cooperation by initiating a joint PhD training program.
Prof. Wu and Prof. Watt signed A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Cooperation between UCAS and UWA on behalf of the two universities. According to the MOU, both parties will enhance relations by developing academic and cultural interchange through a joint PhD program, student and faculty exchanges and short-term visit programs.
