Some academicians from CAS and CAE(Chinese Academy of Engineering) also came to congratulate on the founding of BDK. They were Ma Zhiming, Wang Jiming, Dai Ruwei, Lu Ruqian, He Xingui, Xuzongben, and Yang Shanlin. Other guests were from governments, enterprises, research institutions and universities. More than 100 people were present at the ceremony.
Prof. Cheng Siwei, Honorary Director of BDK and Dean of School of Management, UCAS, expressed his congratulations on the establishment of BDK. Prof. Fang Xin hoped that BDK could support the national big data strategy in theories. Prof. Gao Hongjun said that UCAS would support the development of BDK. Academician Ma Zhiming emphasized the importance of mathematics in the big data science. Pr. Xu Ruiming evaluated the significance of setting up BDK. Ms. Li Lan, Vice Director of Public Management and Human Resources Management Research Institute, Development Research Center of the State Council, confirmed what Prof. Shi Yong and his team had done for our banking system by using data mining technology. Mr. Chen Daobin, General Manager of Management Information Department, ICBC, talked about the value of data science from the angle of application of data mining in commercial banks. Prof. Shi Yong, Director of BDK and Vice Dean of School of Management, UCAS put forward his prospective views on the development trend of big data mining.

Following the ceremony, three guests were invited to give the academic reports on big data. Prof. Yang Shanlin from Hefei University of Technology, Dr. Lin Yachen from Guangfa Bank of China, and Mr. Zhang Rui, CEO of Chunyu Mobile Health Company demonstrated the importance of data science from the angle of academic research and industrial application.
BDK was jointly set up by CAS Research Center on Fictitious Economy & Data Science, College of Mathematics Science, School of Computer and Control Engineering, and School of Management, UCAS. Prof. Shi Yong holds the position of Director of BDK, Prof Cheng Siwei holds the position of Honorary Director, and Prof. Wang Shouyang holds the position of Director of Academic Committee. BDK had gathered a group of first-class researchers in data science and knowledge economy and carried out interdisciplinary exchange and cooperation. It provides an excellent platform for the academic exchange between scholars both at home and abroad. The research areas of BDK include big data theories, big data modeling and mining algorithm, big data technology and application.
