A delegation led by Prof. Ian O’Connor, Vice-Chancellor of Griffith University (GU), visited UCAS on 23 March, 2015. UCAS President Prof. Ding Zhongli met with them which was also attended by UCAS Vice-President Prof. Wang Yanfen.
Prof. Ding welcomed the visit of Prof. O’Connor. He briefly reviewed the collaboration between UCAS and GU and described the enrollment of undergraduate students at UCAS in 2014. Prof. O’Connor praised the collaboration between UCAS and GU for the past five years and expressed gratitude for the International Student Forum and the UCAS-GU Joint Doctoral Program. Prof. Ding also discussed the selection mechanism and education of UCAS undergraduate students. Views were exchanged concerning how to make full use of educational resources in the various campuses of both UCAS and GU.
Griffith University is Australia’s largest university with over 43,000 students, 9,000 of which are international students. In November, 2008, UCAS and GU signed a memorandum of understanding for future collaboration regarding a Joint Doctoral Program. In November, 2011, UCAS and GU renewed the memorandum of understanding, increasing the number of students in the program and enlarging the areas of collaboration.
Since 2014, 15 doctoral candidates from 15 CAS institutes have selected by the Joint Doctoral Program of UCAS and GU. Seven more doctoral students will join the program in 2015.
