A Western Australian education delegation, led by Mr. Peter Collier, Minister for Education of Western Australia, visited the UCAS Yuquanlu campus on 28 September. Prof. Ding Zhongli, UCAS President and CAS Vice-President, met with the delegation, accompanied by Prof. Wu Yueliang, UCAS Vice-President.
Prof. Ding welcomed and briefed the delegation about the current situation of CAS higher education, proposing general ideas of cooperation feasibility between UCAS and Western Australian universities. Prof. Wu introduced the guests to UCAS international exchange and cooperation, expressing hopes for carrying out various cooperative programs with Western Australian universities on the basis of mutual benefit, including a possible joint school operation program.
Mr. Collier said he was very glad to visit UCAS. As Western Australia has increasingly close exchange with Chinese cultural and commercial organizations, Western Australians cherish their friendship with Chinese and are looking forward to deepening scientific and educational cooperation with China.
The Western Australian education delegation was comprised of senior management from University of Western Australia, Curtin University, Murdoch University, Edith Cowan University and Notre Dame University. They respectively introduced their universities and discussed with UCAS representatives about possible joint graduate training, undergraduate exchange, faculty exchange and scientific cooperation programs. Both the University of Western Australia and Curtin University agreed to hold joint workshops with UCAS in 2016 in such fields as astronomy and physics.
UCAS has had academic exchanges with Western Australian universities since 2003. UCAS signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Western Australia in January 2015.
Western Australia is a state occupying the entire western third of Australia. It is Australia's largest and most affluent state with enchanting scenery.
