The Fourth Joint Managerial Committee Meeting of SDC

The Fourth Meeting of the Joint Managerial Committee (JMC) of the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research (SDC) was held in the Zhongguancun Basic Science Park of CAS on December 17. Mr. Deng Yong, Vice-Secretary-General of CAS attended the meeting. Prof. Wang Yanfen, UCAS Vice-President, presided over the meeting.

Mr. Deng welcomed the JMC members, summarizing SDC’s development for the past seven years, expressing sincere appreciation for all those who have supported SDC. He also congratulated Ms. Agnete Gersing for being appointed as the Danish Permanent Secretary for the Ministry for Higher Education and Science and welcomed her further support for SDC.

Ms. Gersing said that she was delighted to serve as the JMC Danish Chairman and hoped that as a platform, SDC might further enhance exchange and cooperation for research and education between China and Denmark.

Mr. Lauritz B. Holm-Nielsen, SDC’s Executive Director, delivered the SDC Annual Report for 2014 and 2015. The Minutes from the Third JMC meeting, Directors’ Plans, Forecast for SDC 2016-2017 and SDC accounts and budget 2016-2017 were all approved after having been presented. Both sides gave high comments to the work and the achievements SDC has made. They reached consensus concerning student short-term study and concerning construction of the SDC building. The next JMC meeting will be held next year in the SDC building.

The Joint Managerial Committee

The Joint Managerial Committee (JMC), is the decision-making body for the Sino-Danish Center (SDC). It's responsible for making long-term plans, reviewing budgets, conducting supervision and making decisions about major issues. The board consists of ten high level representatives equally divided between China and Denmark. Prof. Ding Zhongli, CAS Vice President and UCAS President is now the Chinese JMC Chairman and Ms. Agnete Gersing, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Higher Education and Science serves as the Danish JMC Chairman. The JMC meeting is annually held in either China or Denmark.
