Prof. Rafel Luxhmen Wijeyeweera, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya (UP), visited UCAS on the morning of October 23. Prof. Su Gang, Vice President of UCAS, met with the delegation from Sri Lanka at the Yuquanlu campus.
Su Gang welcomed and briefed the visitors on the university – institute’s fusion of leadership, faculty, and management. He also overviewed scholarship programs for international students and collaborative international programs at UCAS, emphasizing the China – Sri Lanka collaborative programs and hoping to set up a Confucius Institute in collaboration with UP.
Prof. Rafel Luxhmen Wijeyeweera introduced the University of Peradeniya. He said that UP management was considering Confucius Institute Initiative and hoped to cooperate more closely with UCAS in both scientific research and education. He also invited UCAS to attend the 75th anniversary of UP.
Also in attendance were the representatives from Ministry of City Planning & Water Supply and National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB), Prof. Wei Yuansong, Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences of CAS, and Mr. Liu Ning, Senior Program Coordinator with the Bureau of International Co-operation, CAS.
Founded in 1942, the University of Peradeniya is the largest comprehensive public research university with campus in Konti, which was part of the University of Ceylon. There are about 13,500 ongoing students at UP.
On December 16, 2016, Vice President Wang Yanfen signed an Memorandum of Cooperation with the University of Peradeniya on behalf of UCAS.
