The Beijing-Hong Kong University Alliance (BHUA) was initiated on the afternoon of April 13. Vice President Wu Yueliang attended the launching ceremony as a representative for UCAS, one of the founding universities of the BHUA.
The establishment of the BHUA was facilitated by the Chinese Ministry of Education and the Education Bureau, Hong Kong SAR, and led by Peking University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). The BHUA aims to forge strong ties among universities across Beijing and Hong Kong.
Representatives of 20 universities from Beijing and Hong Kong attended the launching ceremony. The 12 Beijing institutions attending the ceremony included Peking University, Beihang University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Normal University, Beijing University of Technology, Capital Medical University, Capital Normal University, Capital University of Economics and Business, Renmin University of China, Tsinghua University and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
From the Hong Kong side, eight institutions were represented: The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Lingnan University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Education University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The University of Hong Kong.
After the launching ceremony, Prof. Wu Yueliang attended a meeting with leaders of HKUST on the cooperation between UCAS and HKUST.
