From Oct.22ed to 26th, the 14th International Conference on Heavy Ion Accelerator Technology was successfully held in Institute of Modern Physics CAS in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province in western China. The conference was sponsored by Institute of Modern Physics CAS, and Prof. Zhao Hongwei was appointed as the conference president. 123 scientific staffs and enterprise representatives from over 10 countries through North America, Europe as well as Asia attended the conference.
Taking start in Daresbury, Canada, International Conference on Heavy Ion Accelerator Technology is regarded as high-quality series of international meetings in the field of heavy ion accelerator. Held every three years, the 14th conference was conducted in China for the first time. The main topics concerned about 8 major directions and aspects which discussed current hot issues, for instances heavy ion accelerator devices, core technology and its applications. 22 invitation reports, 19 conference reports and 32 posters were scheduled in the conference. The meeting gave fully coverage of the progress and the latest achievements of the major technology infrastructure and application devices of current ion accelerator on the international stage, such as HIAF, CIADS and HIRFL of Institute of Modern Physics CAS, BISOL of the Atomic Energy Institute CAS, HIAF of Australian National University, RIBF of Riken of Japan, FRIB, ATLAS of the United states, FAIR, SPIRAL2, SPES OF Europe and etc.
Participants and representatives, greatly interested by the conference contents, had extensive discussions and further idea-changing, which, to some extent, helped to promote the relative discussions and disseminations of the latest advancement in heavy ion accelerator technology. Staffs and graduate students of Institute of Modern Physics CAS actively gave reports and participated in discussion in the conference. In the summary report of the conference, Prof. G. Bisoffi, from INFN-LNL, Italy, thinking highly of the organization and arrangement of the whole conference, suggested this conference was a success with crucial importance fully complying with the principles and meeting the demands of HIAT conference. Hence after, according to the organizing committee ‘arrangement, the delegates visited the main installations and platforms of Institute of Modern Physics CAS, and spoke highly of the achievements of the programs undertaken by the institute. GSI will be the next sponsor of the 15th International Conference on Heavy Ion Accelerator Technology (HTAT) in 2021.
More than 70 articles, submitted in the conference totally, except published on the International Joint Accelerator Conference Database (JACOW), will be included in the conference article collection published by TOP Conference Series (EI) after peer reviewing.
