Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan visit UCAS

On April 3, Shakhlo Turdikulova, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, visited the Yuquan Road Campus of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) with a six-member delegation. WANG Yanfen, Executive Vice President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of UCAS, met with the guests. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation and exchanges in science and education.
WANG welcomed the delegation and introduced the advantages and initiatives of UCAS education based on the fusion of scientific research and education, including the mechanism of the Science and Education Integration Colleges management, the "two-stage" postgraduate education model, and the related funds allocation system. She also introduced the academic progress of Uzbek students at UCAS and welcomed more outstanding young Uzbek students to the university.
Turdikulova introduced the status of scientific research in Uzbekistan and its regional advantages, and the history of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation. She said that the Chinese Academy of Sciences is one of the world's leading scientific institutions, with the implementation of “One Belt, One Road” initiative, many Uzbek students get the opportunity to study at UCAS. Further educational cooperation between Uzbekistan and UCAS is expected in the future.

Extended reading: In 2013, the Xinjiang Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (XIPC) established the Central Asian Center of Drug Discovery and Development of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Uzbekistan, UCAS, Shanghai Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Kunming Institute of Botany, and others attend the management of the center. On 23 November 2018, relying on the centre, the Central Asian Branch of UCAS was inaugurated in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. At present, UCAS has enrolled and trained 69 international students from Uzbekistan (including 46 doctoral students, 20 master's students and 3 advanced students), 27 of whom have graduated.
